6 Habits of Emotionally Strong Leaders

When you resort to pleasing people, you realize that striving for popularity leaves you susceptible to making bad decisions and a compromised moral and standards. Most times, we believe that people with high IQ achieve better success in life. Don't get me wrong, its actually great to be smart. But when you take a closer look at high-achieving people, you will observe that emotional intelligence is really the driving force behind their performance. Here are a few habits emotionally strong people possess; 1)    They don't waste time feeling sorry for themselves:   Emotionally strong people can complain, rant and indulge in self-pity. But this doesn't last more than its supposed to. According to John Maxwell, the period of self-pity should not exceed 24 hours, after which you move on with your life. They also avoid the company of those who spend time complaining. This is because complaints are contagious. So when you feel compelled to self-pity, subject yourself to tough love

How can I stop being easily irritated over things?

Nobody likes it when things are not done well, items not kept away neatly, people around us not saying the right things. For those smart people who drop hints in discussions and expect you to understand them clearly without explainations. But we fail to understand that everybody is not the same and perfection is something we grow into with daily efforts. You can be perfect in one area of your life and have a flaw in another area. In my opinion, this is permitted because we are all different, we grew up from different backgrounds, have different cultures, norms and values and genetic makeup. Regardless, we have to live in the same world, work together, make friends, sustain relationships, be members of some organization or club. Working together brings about more success than working alone. However, working together can get one irritated sometimes but we always have to find a way to accommodate one another to have a happier relationship and gain success in what we do

5 Steps to Building a New Routine

There's a force that follows the work we do and the effort we make towards changing our habits. This force comes after we have made an effort at something or a task and takes over the work for a while. But unless we continue at what we're doing, the force slows down and finally stops. It's like starting up a new business. At first, we exert so much energy into getting it up and running. But at a point, if we make no move, it starts to slow down it's pace of growth. However, if we keep making efforts, it goes on thriving and these efforts we make soon becomes a routine for us. Building a routine is necessary if we are to achieve any goal in life. Routines are actions we take on a daily basis towards the achievement of our goal. For example, if you want to get your eating under control and lose weight, you have to build new routines that will help you achieve your goal. It can be making a note of all that goes into your mouth throughout the day. It is advi

Habits are breakable.

We all have habits. Some of them are good while some are not. The good ones add value to our daily lives by making us happy with ourselves, giving us peace, confidence, high self-esteem, self image and ultimately bringing us success in life. The bad ones lead to nothing but unhappiness in every sphere of life and unhealthy living. Habits are behaviours we portray without having to think about them because we have continuously repeated an action. Good habits can be developed by frequent repetition just as bad habits can be broken. At first, developing good habits can prove difficult, but with due diligence and patience we will succeed. One of the reasons why we find it difficult to develop good habit lies on the effect of our environment and our culture. Notwithstanding, "Winning is a habit...so is losing", Vince Lombard. A habit can therefore be broken and another developed but this can only be done following a strong resolve, decision. Once you learn to win, it bec

Breaking the Habit of Validation

We all have different ways we go about making ourselves feel better when we are feeling downcast. Most of the time, we resort to our friends. As for me, the techniques I have depended on include; -          -  Reading chats from people. -           - Reading books. -           - Listening to music -           - Doing more work, just something to get my attention out of it -           - And for sure, I’ve also depended on people to lift me up and out of that mood so you’re not alone on this journey. Anyway, all this methods are great ways of coming off a downcast spirit but they are also all external support and form just a part of the self-validation equation. On the other hand, we also need to get internal support by allowing yourself be your support system. I was able to come up with some things I could do to help myself in those moments to create a healthy balance and support myself. So if you’re also looking to be able to create such stability in your life
