5 Practical ways to hear from God

One of the things that was in the mind of God when He created man was that He wanted to have fellowship, communion and an interaction with man. In all His creation, He did something different in man that will enable His desired relationship with him to be accomplished. God wants us to hear Him and that's why He did not breath into plants or animals the breath of the Almighty, the Spirit of God. He breathed into man this breath of life so that there can be something in man that can pick up signals from the Eternal God.

"We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us." 1 Cor. 2:12.

So even though God seems to be withdrawn from physical sight, He wants to be involved in our lives. Every moment, He's transmitting signals of information across to us. And because He wants us to hear Him, He put in us something that will enable us to receive information from Him. Its just like having an electronic gadget that can play music and videos and then another electronic gadget that can play videos and music and also have a Sim card in it. The difference between the two is that for one, you can enjoy the music and all but you can also communicate with it. So when He finished creating us, he installed in us something that will enable us pick up signals from Him and also be able to transmit our deepest thoughts to Him.

Another reason why God installed this thing in us is that He did not intend for us to do things from our brain or bring up ideas from our head and execute it by yourself. Being created in God's image means we have no agenda of our own but what God has in mind for us. For instance, when you stand in front of the mirror and see your image, that image of yours has no agenda independent of your agenda. The image does only what you do and that was God's intention so that even though God is not physically present with us, our generation can know Him, know His mind and His will by looking at our life. So we don't have an independent mind but we are destined to receive information from God and transmit it to our generation. That's why hearing God is very critical.

"For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it.

I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say." John 12:49-50.

Anything that does not come from God cannot be accepted by God. So your job is to position yourself in a way that you can receive from Him and then use the mind He has given you to execute His plans. But then Jesus lets us know that its only His sheep that can hear His voice. This means that something must be at work in you that can make you hear from God. There are two voices that speaks to every man on earth;

-The voice of God
-The voice of a stranger

There are a number of ways God can speak to His children;

1) Audible voice of God: God can speak to you audibly just like when He spoke to Moses in Exodus 3:4-10

4God saw that he had stopped to look. God called to him from out of the bush, "Moses! Moses!"

He said, "Yes? I'm right here!"

5God said, "Don't come any closer. Remove your sandals from your feet. You're standing on holy ground."

6Then he said, "I am the God of your father: The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob."

Moses hid his face, afraid to look at God.

7-8God said, "I've taken a good, long look at the affliction of my people in Egypt. I've heard their cries for deliverance from their slave masters; I know all about their pain. And now I have come down to help them, pry them loose from the grip of Egypt, get them out of that country and bring them to a good land with wide-open spaces, a land lush with milk and honey, the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

9-10"The Israelite cry for help has come to me, and I've seen for myself how cruelly they're being treated by the Egyptians. It's time for you to go back: I'm sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the People of Israel, out of Egypt."

2) Dreams/visions: God can reveal things to you in your dreams. He reveals things to His children through visions. Joel 2:28

"And that's just the beginning: After that—

"I will pour out my Spirit

on every kind of people:

Your sons will prophesy,

also your daughters.

Your old men will dream,

your young men will see visions."

3) Prophecies: Sometimes, someone can come under the influence of the Holy spirit and begin to utter words.

4) Your circumstances: Something can happen or be happening around you and while you're trying to understand what is going on, an understanding comes to you letting you know what God is saying. I have a friend who God spoke to while he was licking oranges with his friends. The oranges were so sweet but had no seeds in them and while they were wondering why and how such a thing could be, God spoke him and told him that it is a curse for a man to have all the sweet things of life but have no seed to ensure continuity. This just means that all that man possessed will go with him when he dies...

5) Through the Bible: He can speak a word to you while you're studying the bible. This word is particularly to you but coming from the scripture. John the Baptist located himself in the bible as well as Jesus. You can also locate yourself in the bible. God can point you to a bible passage which is your destiny and it describes your journey through life.

Anything you hear that is not in line with the bible is not from God.

God wants to hear what is in your heart and also intends that you'll hear Him speaking to you, giving you clear directions on what you have to do, what you ought to say and how you ought to say it.

How to Increase Your Job Satisfaction

You'd be wondering why this topic?, why do I have to be the best at a job I already don't like?, why not just quit the moment I dislike it?. These questions are not out of line. The reason is that a survey carried out few years back has disclosed that more than half of employees don't like their jobs. However since that's what we have to do at the moment, my guess is that we have to be our best in it. So I'd want to discuss that period between when we get a job we'll have full satisfaction in and while we are doing what we currently do.  It is really difficult putting up with dissatisfaction and so it is very easy to detect when a person don't like their job anymore. They begin to do it haphazardly, shift it to other people, exert their frustration and anger with the job on innocent coworkers, make excuses for not getting things done and seize to take responsibility for any error coming from their work among other things. However, I've been a...

6 Habits of Emotionally Strong Leaders

When you resort to pleasing people, you realize that striving for popularity leaves you susceptible to making bad decisions and a compromised moral and standards. Most times, we believe that people with high IQ achieve better success in life. Don't get me wrong, its actually great to be smart. But when you take a closer look at high-achieving people, you will observe that emotional intelligence is really the driving force behind their performance. Here are a few habits emotionally strong people possess; 1)    They don't waste time feeling sorry for themselves:   Emotionally strong people can complain, rant and indulge in self-pity. But this doesn't last more than its supposed to. According to John Maxwell, the period of self-pity should not exceed 24 hours, after which you move on with your life. They also avoid the company of those who spend time complaining. This is because complaints are contagious. So when you feel compelled to self-pity, subject yourself to tou...

A Cover with Content.

For a while now I've been doing a lot of thinking and innate deliberations. I went through a situation that gave a reason to think deeper, evaluate and reevaluate a lot of things. At the end of that exercise, I arrived at certain deductions. I'll want to liken my thoughts and conclusions to a book.  Normally, every book has a cover and then it's content which comprises of the details of the book. Most times we buy books based on the topic, the cover, the author and any other specification we choose. I've also had to read through the preview of the book just to have an additional idea of what the book is all about before I go ahead to buy it. All this we do to ensure we buy a book worthwhile and will build us up or just enlighten us according to our need.  There are different parts of a book but as my thoughts led me, I'm just going to talk about the book's COVER and its CONTENT.  The Cover of a book is usually the first thing we look at when we want ...
